11th SKIF World Championship




Report by our Chairman Philip Kwok on the 11th SKIF World Championship held in Sydney from Nov 9-24, 2012.

1. Five from Hong Kong had attended: Philip Kwok, Maxine Kwok, Ricky Wan, Daniel Chan Hok Shun and Kenny Hui.

2. A very successful two-day SKIF-Yudansha-Kai Seminar was conducted (Philip Kwok is the President of Yudansha-Kai). More than 150 participants attended. The Seminar was led by Kancho Kanazawa, Nobuaki and Murakami Sensei and several other senior Senseis of SKIF.

3. Ricky was awarded 5th Dan by Kancho Kanazawa after having successfully passed the dan examination.

4. Daniel took part in the over 60 year individual Kata and did well in spite of a bad back.

5. Kenny went through the rigorous Referee Clinic and acted as judges in all three days of competition. He was one of the judges in the Ladies Individual Kata Final.

6. Philip was awarded 9th Dan at the closing ceremony by Kancho Kanazawa.

7. At the SKIF World Congress was announced that Kancho Kanazawa will continue to lead SKIF as Founder and Kancho Emeritus.

8. It was also decided at the World Congress that the 12th SKIF World Championship would be held in Venezuela in South America.
